Senior Partner
George Su is a partner at AllBright Law Offices in Shanghai. His practice areas include international trade, intellectual property, corporate, and mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Su is very knowledgeable of World Trade Organization (WTO) legal procedures related to anti-dumping claims and defenses. In particular, he has conducted in-depth research into legal defenses to anti-dumping claims. Mr. Su is experienced in handling arbitration and lawsuits involving international goods trade, international freight, ship chartering and logistics, marine ships and collision, maritime insurance, trade contracts as well as trade-related intellectual property disputes.
Mr. Su often provides clients with legal services related to incorporation, investment, mergers and acquisitions and the establishment of private equity investment vehicles and he also serves as retained and special legal counsel for dozens of enterprises, associations and organizations including listed companies, state-owned holding groups, international trade and real estate enterprises, five-star hotels, ships, newspapers, construction design and planning design enterprises, and catering associations. He is especially experienced in provide clients with legal planning relating to overseas trade and investment, export buyer’s credit trade and overseas project tendering and bidding.
In addition, Mr. Su also defends intellectual property rights including trademarks and patents, plans cross-border trademark registration and patent applications, and helps clients handle interest disputes with their shareholders as well as complex and difficult disputes and lawsuits related to the dissolution and liquidation of companies.
Before joining AllBright in 2000, Mr. Su was dispatched from China to act as a senior executive of an overseas joint venture, and worked on overseas investment, trade and legal management in enterprises as it related to foreign trade and economics.
Mr. Suiscurrently executive member of the Council of the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export (SHCCIE), Deputy Director of Fair Trade and Legal Work Committee of SHCCIE, a member of Intellectual Property Research Committee of Shanghai Bar Association and a member of Project Construction and the Financing Research Committee of Shanghai Bar Association.
Mr. Su graduated with concentrations in financial and business management from Shanghai University of International Business and Economics and later graduated with an LL.M. in economic law from Fudan University Law School and also the first workshop for foreign-related lawyers held by Fudan University Law School.
Mr. Su is a practicing lawyer in China and is qualified as an accountant, economist and international business engineer. He is also qualified to handle intellectual property rights issues by the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration. Mr. Su also obtained a professional qualification certificate as senior manager of foreign-invested enterprises issued by the Shanghai Foreign Investment Committee. His working language is Mandarin."
