[Abstract] The “ Youth Art Week” section of the 20th China Shanghai International Arts Festival opened during the period from October 21 to October 27, 2018 at the Huashan Road Campus of the Shanghai Theatre Academy.

The “2018 Youth Art Week”, a special section of the 20th China Shanghai International Arts Festival (CSIAF), opened during the period from October 21 to October 27, 2018 at the Huashan Road Campus of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. Leo Zheng, a partner of AllBright Law offices and expert of entertainment law, was invited to give a keynote speech for the event titled as “Completion Guarantee: A ‘patron saint’ of the Film Industry”. Zheng’s in-depth speech introduced the core content and basic principles of completion guarantees and examined the role of completion guarantees in the film finance system and approaches to localizing completion guarantees for the Chinese movie industry. A large number of scholars, students and other ‘insiders’ of the industry attended and spoke highly of the speech, which triggered a heated discussion and thorough communication.  

As a permanent section of the CSIAF, the “Supporting Program for Young Artists and Youth Art Week” was initiated in 2012. It has provided a perfect platform for incubating original art and fertile soil for young talents to grow, helping young artists cooperate and promoting international culture exchange. The Shanghai Theatre Academy is a professional art college which focuses on the cultivation of talents in theatrical arts. Since its establishment in 1945, the Shanghai Theatre Academy has adhered to the principle of elite education and set up a unique training model. The ‘Youth Art Week’ aims to support young artists and promote culture prosperity by creating opportunities for masters and artists to communicate, which is consistent with the idea of “open-door education” enshrined by Shanghai Theatre Academy, and becomes a new paradigm of culture-education integration.
