On July 25, the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Energy Administration, and the National Data Administration jointly released the Action Plan for Accelerating the Construction of a New Power System (2024-2027) (the “Action Plan”), which is part of China's efforts to promote low-carbon development and ensure energy security.
The Action Plan outlines initiatives in nine areas from 2024 to 2027, focusing on enhancing the transmission of clean electricity. It proposes to increase the proportion of new energy electricity in the transmission channels and carry out the application of advanced technologies to achieve large-scale high-proportion new energy transmission. The Action Plan also addresses the large-scale charging demand and effective utilization of energy storage resources from electric vehicles (EVs). It proposes to enhance the layout of the charging infrastructure network, promote the integration of EVs with the power grid, and establish a comprehensive standard system for charging infrastructure.
With the implementation of the Action Plan, China demonstrates its determination to follow the path of green development by ensuring the stable operation of China's electricity system and boosting the development of the power distribution network.
