On March 15, 2024, witnessed by President Xi Jinping and President Joao Lourenco of the Republic of Angola, the Chinese and Angolan governments signed several bilateral cooperation documents regarding the Belt and Road cooperation plan, economy and trade, agriculture, green development and other fields.

China and Angola agreed to deepen further their cooperation and sign the “Memorandum of Understanding on Jointly Accelerating the Preparation of the Cooperation Plan for Co-construct the Belt and Road”, establish a working coordination mechanism for the cooperation between China and Angola, and set up a working group for drafting and negotiating their cooperation plan. A “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Green, Ecological, and Low-Carbon Development” was also signed to enhance cooperation in low-carbon development; A “Memorandum of Understanding on Communication and Cooperation in the Field of Economic Development” was signed to strengthen economic development and cooperation.

In addition, a “Memorandum of Understanding on strengthening cooperation in the digital economy” was signed to strengthen cooperation in the digital economy between the two countries.
