Secretary of the Committee of Political and Legal Affairs of the Shanghai CPC Visits AllBright’s Shanghai Office

On the afternoon of March 4, 2014, Jiang Ping, member of the standing committee of the Shanghai Communist Party of China (CPC) and secretary of the Committee of Political and Legal Affairs of the Shanghai CPC, led a delegation of senior legal affairs officials to visit AllBright’s Shanghai office. The delegation included Wang Jiaosheng, deputy secretary and secretary general of the Committee of Political and Legal Affairs of the Shanghai CPC, Wang Shiping, administrative office head of the Committee of Political and Legal Affairs of the Shanghai CPC, Shi Weidong, research head of the Committee of Political and Legal Affairs of the Shanghai CPC, and Chen Yingwei, communications head of the Committee of Political and Legal Affairs of the Shanghai CPC. Other city judicial officials that joined the delegation included Zheng Shanhe, head and party secretary of the Shanghai Judicial Bureau, Wang Xie, deputy head of the Shanghai Judicial Bureau, Ma Yi, head of the lawyers supervision department of the Shanghai Judicial Bureau, Zhang Yanli, deputy head of the administrative office of the Shanghai Judicial Bureau, Sheng Leiming, deputy party secretary and president of the Shanghai Bar Association, Liu Longbai, deputy head of the Pudong Judicial Bureau, and Zhao Kaiyin, head of the lawyers supervision department of the Pudong Judicial Bureau. AllBright managing director Wu Mingde, and partners David Chen, Shen GuoquanLiu Feng, Victor WangJulia Zhu, and James Guo received the delegation.


The delegation took a tour of the office with interest before Mr. Wu briefed them about AllBright’s recent developments.


AllBright partners expressed their views on the development of the legal service profession in Shanghai, including team work, development scope, practice environment, market supervision and system reforms, in response to Mr. Jiang’s inquiries.


Mr. Jiang said he was more than happy to see AllBright’s progress and development and its contribution to Shanghai’s service sector. He noted that China’s legal service sector is growing rapidly amid the country’s opening-up, economic growth and legal system establishment. Against the backdrop, Shanghai lawyers should make full use of the opportunities to improve their services and aim to surpass domestic and international requirements for legal services. He added that city party officials and government will fully support the development of the legal services sector. He expected AllBright to make further contributions to Shanghai’s Four-Center construction as the biggest law firm in Shanghai and to become a leading PRC firm with global recognition.
