AllBright Holds Successful GDPR Seminar
2018-04-037884The European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into force on May 25, 2018, in order to better understand this new data protection policy, AllBright Committee on Foreign Affairs held a successful GDPR Seminar together with its strategic partner Bird & Bird LLP, Microsoft (China) Co., Ltd. and Wolters Kluwer on March 28. The seminar was hosted by the AllBright Partner Ms. Amy Ye, and AllBright Partners Mr. John Liu and Ms. Theresa Qiu have given their opening remarks and closing remarks respectively.
In the meeting, Partners Mr. John Shi and Mr. Alexander Shepherd from Bird & Bird LLP’s Beijing office and Singapore office have addressed their speeches on the topic of “GDPR-Are you ready?” by introducing the scope and core principles of GDPR and explaining the rights of data subjects and the obligations, the liability for compensation, and the administrative responsibilities of data controllers and processors.
The director of Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs for Greater China Region of Microsoft (China) Co., Ltd., Ms. Cindy Huang, have addressed her speech on the topic of “Microsoft Azure Cloud Services can help enterprises deal with GDPR compliance issues” by explaining couple important concepts of GDPR and the major challenges and influences brought to the enterprises by the GDPR. She also shared how Microsoft Azure Cloud Services have taken measures to prepare on the GDPR compliances issues.
The seminar attracted almost one hundred professionals, and they had intense discussions on the hot issues and have given high praise to the seminar.
