AllBright Lawyer Presents at the Fifth-Year Anniversary of Anti-monopoly Law

 2013-08-065077

From July 31 to August 1, 2013, the Anti-monopoly Committee of the State Council held the “China Competition Policy Forum – Competition Policy amid China’s Economic Restructuring” to mark the fifth year anniversary of the Anti-monopoly Law (AML) of PRC. Participants of the event included senior officials from the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Commerce, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, the National People’s Congress, Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council, and the Supreme People’s Court, representatives from the competition law enforcement institutions from the US, EU and BRIC countries, and renowned academics, corporate counsels and lawyers.

AllBright Beijing Office Partner Susan Guo delivered a speech at the grand event. The presence of Ms. Guo at the high-profile event encapsulated AllBright’s established strength in anti-monopoly practices in China.

The forum summed up achievements, experiences and challenges since the AML came into force five years ago from the perspectives of legislation, law enforcement, and judicature. It also held a discussion on issues including competition and corporate development, control of concentrations between undertakings, intellectual protection and anti-trust measures.

China’s AML came into force on August 1, 2008. Since then, China has beefed up its anti-monopoly measures, with the top economic planner, the commerce ministry and the SAIC as the main market watchdogs.
